Whisman is the newer side of Mountain View. Whisman Station, built from 1998 on, mixes attached townhomes and detached single-family houses, and later phases such as the Reserve at Whisman Station and Avellino added more townhomes through the 2000s and 2010s. North Whisman has 1990s townhomes, older houses and condos and newer homes along Evandale Avenue, and the East Whisman plan is turning the office parks toward the 101 into a mixed-use district with thousands more homes.
Townhome garages have their own problems. They are tight, often rear-loaded off a shared lane, with a door that sits a few feet from the next unit's — so a misjudged turn means a bent section or a knocked track. Many builder-grade doors and openers from the late 1990s are now reaching the end of their springs and their opener boards at about the same time, so neighbours tend to call us in clusters. HOA rules usually dictate door style and colour, which we check before ordering a replacement.
