Bent, loose or out of plumb — trued and re-anchored — across Mountain View, Old Mountain View, Cuesta Park, Whisman, Shoreline West, Los Altos, Palo Alto, Sunnyvale.
Tracks guide the door from closed to open, and they only work when both sides are parallel, plumb and securely fixed. A track knocked by a car, loosened by vibration or pulled out of line as the building moves will make the door bind, rub, jerk or eventually come off its rollers. Small problems show up as noise and uneven gaps long before the door actually derails.
We check both vertical and horizontal tracks for bends, flattened sections and loose mounting, then straighten, replace and re-anchor them so the spacing to the door is correct along the full travel. The jamb brackets and the rear hangers in the ceiling get the same attention, because a track is only as straight as the brackets holding it. The door is then balanced and cycled until it runs smoothly from floor to ceiling.
Parts of this area sit on old bay fill and soft alluvium, and slabs there settle and shift over the years — the same ground that moves in an earthquake. As the opening racks out of square, tracks fixed to the jambs go with it, and a door that ran clean for twenty years starts to rub. We measure the opening and the slab as well as the track, because straightening a track on a settled floor without allowing for it simply moves the problem to the next cycle.
